They never crucified Jesus Christ; they only crucified their conception of him in their own hearts; and it is in their heart’s testimony that they have perpetuated it. We must separate ourselves from peoples’ idea of us. Our idea of ourselves is not their idea of us.   Mary Baker Eddy   (Carpenter, Gilbert, Fragments Gathered From Unpublished Items Ascribed To Mary Baker Eddy, p.79)

Once when explaining Exodus 4:4 Mrs. Eddy said, “Sometimes I seem to hear the voice of the Father like this – My child, there is nothing in mortal mind to fear, not even the educated thought that knows what it is doing.  But these different claims must needs remain until thou art not afraid.  They are here only for thee to learn that they cannot harm.  When that is learned, their mission is accomplished and away they go.  The way to learn their powerlessness is through the constant recognition of God’s power to dislodge them.”   Mary Baker Eddy  (Carpenter, Jr. Gilbert, 500 Watching Points, # 230)

It was the doubt and ignorance of what Jesus was and did for all mankind that shut out and still shuts out the light of Love. What if the window does offend the senses with the objects it reveals and the path it points out!  It is Love’s window and Love’s revelation to mankind.  The good gaze at last with gratitude and joy on what they had not seen but now see through the window that disturbed the senses but pointed the way in Science.  Mary Baker Eddy (Advice To Healers, Selected Letters By Mary Baker Eddy, Volume 3, 1900-1910, p.41)

God never fails to be expressed through His ideas, and nothing can limit God’s expression. Your mentality is the expression of God. The source of intelligence is infinite and flows on abundantly through you, and your only responsibility is to listen in consciousness and Mind will do it all. There is no place where the Saviour, the Truth, is not working. It is working with you, and with all connected with you. Intelligence is at the helm and carries with it all action. No material condition ever stopped the flow of substance from divine Mind.  Mary Baker Eddy  (Oakes, Richard, Essays and Bible Lessons, Red Book, p.75)

SEEDTIME AND HARVEST – 14

Jesus required neither cycles of time nor thought in order to mature fitness for perfection and its possibilities. He said that the kingdom of heaven is here, and is included in Mind; that while ye say, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest, I say, Look up, not down, for your fields are already white for the harvest; and gather the harvest by mental, not material processes. The laborers are few in this vineyard of Mind-sowing and reaping; but let them apply to the waiting grain the curving sickle of Mind’s eternal circle, and bind it with bands of Soul.  (Eddy, Mary Baker, Unity of Good, p.11:24-6)

SEEDTIME AND HARVEST – 13

Jesus stooped not to human consciousness, nor to the evidence of the senses. He heeded not the taunt, “That withered hand looks very real and feels very real;” but he cut off this vain boasting and destroyed human pride by taking away the material evidence. If his patient was a theologian of some bigoted sect, a physician, or a professor of natural philosophy, — according to the ruder sort then prevalent, — he never thanked Jesus for restoring his senseless hand; but neither red tape nor indignity hindered the divine process.  (Eddy, Mary Baker, Unity of Good, p.11:14-24)

SEEDTIME AND HARVEST – 12

Jesus taught us to walk over, not into or with, the currents of matter, or mortal mind. His teachings beard the lions in their dens. He turned the water into wine, he commanded the winds, he healed the sick, — all in direct opposition to human philosophy and so-called natural science. He annulled the laws of matter, showing them to be laws of mortal mind, not of God. He showed the need of changing this mind and its abortive laws. He demanded a change of consciousness and evidence, and effected this change through the higher laws of God. The palsied hand moved, despite the boastful sense of physical law and order.   (Eddy, Mary Baker, Unity of Good, p.11:3-14)

SEEDTIME AND HARVEST – 11

God was not in the whirlwind. He is not the blind force of a material universe. Mortals must learn this; unless, pursued by their fears, they would endeavor to hide from His presence under their own falsities, and call in vain for the mountains of unholiness to shield them from the penalty of error. (Eddy, Mary Baker, Unity of Good, p.10:25-2)
